Partnering for Unity
Derby Church Net joins with Valley CIDS
A ‘chance’ encounter at a lunch in December last year has led to a new partnership between two Christian organisations.
After a conversation at the networking event in Matlock, Valley CIDS approached Derby Church Net editor Tim Gossling offering to help secure the future of the communications network, and move it forward.
Following a number of conversations, the two groups have officially started working together, with Derby Church Net coming under the banner of Valley CIDS, and will now benefit from their increased resources and charitable status. This will also help raise the profile of the charity in the local area.
Valley CIDS (Christians Involved in Developing Society) are an independent Christian charity based in Swanwick near Alfreton, committed to serving children, young people and families through outreach work in schools and the wider community.
It was launched in 2000 by a group of Christians with a passion to serve, inspire and equip children, young people and families to develop their full potential in society today.
Projects include a farm, a nursery, out of school clubs and a multi-site youth project.
They also run a number of ‘Lighthouse’ charity shops and the Saltpot café which help finance the work as well as providing opportunities to connect with the community in their own right.
Working with Derby Church Net will be opening up a new area of ministry for them, helping to connect further with the Christian community across Derbyshire and beyond. It is a step of faith, but they believe that God will supply all that is required to equip the work and build the Kingdom.
Existing sponsors will still be key in supporting the work; donations can now also benefit from Gift Aid where tax payers register for this.
Editor Tim Gossling said, “This marks the start of a new chapter for Derby Church Net. Partnering in this way with Valley CIDS will potentially open up a wide range of opportunities for working across Derbyshire, supporting and connecting churches in the area. I am grateful that they have seen the value in the work and are prepared to help in this way so that it may continue for years to come.”
Rev Jonathan Brook, Director of Ethos, Values and Mission at Valley CIDS said, “Valley CIDS are very excited to work with Tim not only on ensuring that the good news of Jesus is continued to be spread throughout the county but to also help us in our marketing and promotion of the charity. Valley CIDS does amazing work for so many children and young people and our prayer is that we can increase this through working together with churches across our county. We believe that Tim will helps us to communicate our message and tell the story of hope that we bring to so many young people’s lives.”
