Mill Street Mulling
Diocese consults over future of centre
The Diocese of Derby has been consulting local residents in part of central Derby regarding the future of a building in the area.
Mill Street Community Centre (formerly known as Derby Youth House or St. John’s School) is a vacant Victorian school building, containing a number of small classrooms, a couple of large halls, kitchens, toilets, a climbing wall and has limited off road parking. It is situated next door to St. John the Evangelist Church on Bridge Street, near Friar Gate.
It is their intention to re-open the building as a community facility and offer space to community groups or to provide access for community health professionals, educational support groups, work seeking groups, early years provision, community education groups and possibly a community café or art space.
But in order to develop this community facility they are assessing the needs of the community in the local vicinity.
The consultation has now come to an end, but you can find out more online at www.derby.anglican.org/millstreet
